Yes you read the subject line right. I LOVE using the “C” word. In fact, I drop it as many times as possible throughout the day….. and sometimes I even use it around my kids!
Wait- what C word were you thinking about?
Let’s get kosher here. I’m talking about a particular C word, well actually 3 particular C words, that are the cornerstone of any successful business.
The words I’m referring to are CONNECTIONS, COMMUNICATING & CLIENTS
Let’s start at the beginning.
We all know that a successful business is built on the connection you establish with your team, your customers, your vendors or affiliates and anyone else that you engage with on a daily basis.
But one of the most, if not THE most important connection we should strive for is the one we have with ourselves and our business.
As entrepreneurs we often get so caught up in trying to build and grow our business that we may lose sight of WHY were are doing what we’re doing in the first place. In some cases business may be moving along just fine, you’re making money and growing from year to year, but still something just isn’t clicking within you.
Psst.. Its your soul calling and its telling you that something is missing, something doesn’t feel right and its screaming out for your help (more on this coming your way next week)
When you are lacking that connection, nothing in your business and life for that matter every truly flows.
I mean things may be good and you may be “getting by” but why get by when you can THRIVE?
Having a clear and unshakable connection with your WHO and the WHY of your business is the foundation on which you will build a successful AND sustainable brand. This is where it starts. When you have a deep connection and understanding of what it is that you do, that speaks for itself and that translates into belief in yourself, your product or services and of course your business.
When you are confident (there is another C word I love) in the goods or services you provide, people will more than likely believe in it as well- making it easier for you to gain their trust.
Establishing a connection with yourself and your business should be your primary focus before thinking of trying to establish a connection to your audience…cause guess what, if you’re not connecting with what you’re offering- no one else will either!..Just sayin’ ?
Communication. This has got to be my second most favorite “C” word of all time! I mean let’s get real for a half a second- without effective communication how would any relationship or organization function? Communication is around us all day, every day. It’s in everything we do. From the way we interact with the people in our lives to the stories we read in our news feeds on social media to our favorite TGIT shows broadcasting through our television screens!
How we communicate as entrepreneurs is essential to establishing credibility within our market. But I don’t just mean how well we write a blog post or the way we compose an email to our clients and prospects. I’m talking about how we communicate our message to our audience and, to take it a step further, how we continue that communication once our audience is in front of us.
The truth is, it’s not enough to just be passionate about what you do- you also have to be able to articulate it in a way that resonates with your audience. In other words (pun INtended) you must know how to “speak their language.”
Carefully crafting your messaging and using the right tools to communicate with your tribe can make all the difference between booking yourself solid and struggling from month to month.
You should be oozing confidence and passion in every conversation, workshop, speaking engagement and opportunity to you have to showcase your business to the world. This is infections and people will want what you have. So let your passion for what you shine.
Now chances are if you’ve got the 1st and 2nd “C” down, the 3rd “C”- Clients , is likely to follow.
Here is the thing guys, if you don’t have paying clients, you don’t have a business. PERIOD. And NO CLIENTS = NO CASH (yet another AH-mazing “C” Word- I’m just full of them today)
I’m not suggesting you focus solely on making money, but what I do know for a fact is as an entrepreneur your business, and in most cases, your livelihood, depends on people investing their cash in your goods or services (not rocket science)
Just imagine the brand you can build when you are connected at your core to your business and when you can confidently communicate your message to your market
Bottom line – CONNECTING to your business + Confidently COMMUNICATING your message= CLIENTS & CASH
I mean have you ever seen a better equation?
